Marion

Marion were an incredible band back in the day, destined for some pretty big things until the ol' golden brown messed things up. Anyways, a few years back they reformed for a comeback tour. As my mates Nat and Jack were filling in on guitar and drums, I ended up taggin along for a couple of gigs. I remember being so blown away by singer Jamie Hardings voice and presence onstage during those nights. There was some special quality in amongst it all you just don't get to see very often. The other day I found these shots of him in my library, and as a little tribute, I thought I'd share 'em... There's a 1996 video clip for their first single below as well...enjoy...

Windy

One day last month, despite a fun lookin swell, the wind blew so strong offshore I couldn't surf. I'd never really experienced that before. This is that day getting away...

Cover'o Carve

A new era of Carve mag has just been launched, with Roger Sharp taking charge as editor, and Ferg fronting this first issue of the revamped zine with a perfect one out the 'leen. I'm stoked on how the shot turned out and I'm looking forward to seeing it in print lads!

Surfing World Cover

Legendary Australian mag Surfing World have done us proud by running a classic shot of Ferg at home on the cover of their latest issue. Absolutely buzzing man. SW is one of the few surf publications consistently prioritising top notch photography, design and written content. So for me it's a real honour to front their mag, and it kinda feels pretty good that this all came about just doing what me and that humble Irish brother of mine like to do at our favourite wave in the world, push ourselves and have fun, cameras or no cameras. Stoked. Thanks lads.

An Ode to Winter

While the sun has made a cheery appearance the last few weeks, and everything and everyone seems to be bright and shiny with the promise of spring, I for one am already mourning the passing of the dark months. Winter is, without a doubt, my favorite time of year. I love it and I'm feeling pretty sad now. Seasonal Affective Disorder is defined as the Winter Blues. Well reverse that for me. I miss brutal cold, endless giant aggro swells, hectic missions, short days, long nights, purpose and the promise of tomorrow. So here's a few from those happy months to say cheers to the deep freeze. What a season...

Tow jam

Am currently redoing my site and as a result have to go through my library and get it all in order. Was going through some old shots and came across this rainy afternoon tow out session with Griz, Jake and Pencil. Lads were going bonkers. Rad...

Frabjous Day

Went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D last night, blew my mind.

The film also lit up memories of my favourite poem as a kid,
The JABBERWOCKY.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
  And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
  The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
  And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
  And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
  The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
  He went galumphing back.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
  He chortled in his joy.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
  And the mome raths outgrabe.

Old Pards Party

I stormed into my 30th year in this existence last week. To celebrate we went surfing. Then we had an old pards weekend. It was class drinking, dressing up, and shaking my old bones with laughter at my ol' pard mates. Here's some memoirs...
